That 70's Show: Every Cast Member Then And Now

For the 8 years between 1998 and 2006, we were transported back to the 1970's to live vicariously through the colorful characters of one of Fox's most popular shows of all time. We watched as Eric, Donna, Jackie, Kelso, Fez, and Hyde dealt with break-ups, make-ups and everything in between in their own unique and extremely comical ways. We fell in love with Red and Kitty's odd yet unyielding relationship and wished more than once that Laurie would meet her comeuppance. We sat glued to our screens throughout 200 episodes of That 70's Show, identifying with the characters as if they were family.

Now, 12 years since the final episode aired, we can't help but wonder what happened to our favorite characters. Did Eric find true love in real life? What about Donna? Were Kelso and Jackie destined for a lifetime together? Taking a trip down memory lane is always good for the soul. Nothing beats having a look back at the actors and actresses behind one of the most-loved ensembles in TV history and reconnecting with them in the present-day. Here is where the top-billed cast of the show is at today:

Mila Kunis (Jackie Burkhart)

Mila Kunis was only 14 years old when she was cast in the role of Jackie Burkhart in the offbeat Fox sitcom. In order to audition you had to be at least 18 years old, but a sly Mila made the cut by telling casting directors that she is turning 18 (she omitted to say only in 4 years' time, however). Mila's perpetually annoying, high-maintenance character earned her two consecutive Young Star Awards for Best Young Actress in a Comedy TV Series in both 1999 and 2000.

Young Mila blossomed into a red-hot vixen who first stole the heart of Macaulay Culkin back in 2002 before starting to date her 70's Show love-interest Ashton Kutcher in April 2012. The couple has since wed and are proud parents to both a son and a daughter. Mila has been a busy little bee after leaving the show, winning multiple awards for her role in The Black Swan, and has since appeared in Ted, The Color of Time and Bad Moms.

Danny Masterson (Steven Hyde)

Danny Masterson portrayed the role of Steven Hyde, Eric Forman's best friend in the show and was known for his blunt and highly sarcastic sense of humor. The role landed him a Young Artist Award in 1998 for Best Performance in a TV Series - Young Ensemble. Young Danny appeared to be set for life appearing in TV series' such as Men at Work and Royal Pains.

Fast Forward to 2016. Masterson was cast as Jameson 'Rooster' Bennett in the Netflix hit-series The Ranch. At first glance, I thought the series was a spin-off of That 70's Show, featuring Kelso, Fez, Kitty and Red alongside Hyde - I was obviously mistaken, and perhaps was just getting ahead of myself. On the 5th of December 2017, the streaming giant announced that Masterson will be written out of the series due to multiple allegations - the LAPD has been investigating the claims since March last year. I bet the Forman family is terribly disappointed at the path their almost-son ended up taking in life!

Laura Prepon (Donna Pinciotti)

Laura Prepon, the actress behind Eric's long-time girlfriend, Donna, was nominated for a Teen Choice Award in 2002 for her role in the show. In real-life, Laura has always been as pretty and intelligent as Donna and was named as one of Stuff magazine's most beautiful women in the world during 2002 as well as one of Maxim's "Hot 100" three years later in 2005.

After leaving Donna behind somewhere between 1979 and 2006, Laura landed a role in the Netflix hit comedy-drama series Orange Is The New Black which premiered in 2013. The raven-haired beauty further went on to star in the psychological thriller The Girl on the Train in 2016 before playing Charlotte in The Hero. Poor Donna may have had questionable taste in men on That 70's Show but we can't fault Laura on her choice in beaus. She has been romantically linked to hunks such as Scott Michael Foster, Tom Cruise (although his 'hunk status' is debatable) and Christopher Masterson and is currently engaged to Ben Foster.

Wilmer Valderrama (Fez)

Wilmer Valderrama was a high school senior when he landed the role of the endearing and perpetually excited Fez on the show. Fez was, apart from Leo perhaps, the oddest character on the show, perfecting the art of being gullible and weird at the same time. Wilmer shone in the role and was handed 3 Teen Choice Awards for Choice TV Sidekick in 2003, 2005 and 2006 (the 2004 award went to Sean Hayes of Will and Grace fame).

Since the show came to an end in 2006, Wilmer has accumulated an impressive set of film and television credentials including FOX's sci-fi series Minority Report and, most recently, NCIS, starring as Nick Torres. Fez might not have been lucky in love on the show, marrying Laurie just to stay in the USA, but in the real world, Wilmer has had no problems impressing the ladies, being linked to both Mila Kunis and Demi Lovato.

Debra Jo Rupp (Kitty Forman)

No one does menopausal mother, as well as Kitty Forman, does! Debra Jo Rupp was the perfect fit for the role and played the part of Eric's mom and Red's harried wife to the tee. While we will never forget Kitty's mood swings and mini-meltdowns, no one can deny that she was a doting mother figure to the entire clan. I was not surprised when Rupp was named the "Best Sitcom Mom" on television by the Boston Herald.

After the show ended, Debra went on to star in renowned TV series' such as Better with You, The Ranch and This is Us. Despite being almost 70 years old, Debra has no real-life Red by her side (that we know of anyway). It's never too late to find love Kitty, I'm rooting for you!

Kurtwood Smith (Red Forman)

It couldn't always have been easy being married to Kitty and having Laurie and Eric as your offspring but Kurtwood Smith as Red Forman did a stellar job! Viewers fell in love with the tough-on-the-outside-gooey-on-the-inside Navy veteran who loved nothing more than to work with his power tools and drink beer. Smith was no newcomer to the small screen when he joined the cast of the show, having already starred in numerous productions including the popular TV show of the 80's, The Renegades and the hit film Robocop.

After production finished on That 70's Show, Kurtwood went on to star in various TV shows such as 24 (as Senator Blaine Meyer), Worst Week (as Dick Clayton) and most recently, The Ranch (as Sam Peterson). Kurtwood is still in regular contact with Kitty, Hyde, Kelso, and Fez (probably because, as previously mentioned, they all star together in The Ranch). Married to Joan Pirkle and father of two, Kurtwood is not likely to give up acting anytime soon, and I couldn't be more pleased.

Don Stark (Bob Pinciotti)

Don Stark got his first acting job back in 1963 as Ripley on General Hospital and even had a small role in Baywatch before being cast as Bob Pinciotti (Donna's dad) on That 70's Show. Viewers fell in love with Bob's strange habits which included walking around his house wide open, sans underwear! Don was perfectly cast as Bob, bringing charm and humor to Red's best friend, and endless entertainment to all of us on the other side of the small screen.

Since That 70's Show came to an end in 2006, Don has been a very busy man. He has appeared in numerous TV series' such as Supernatural, Workshop, Corey & Lucas For The Win, Red Sleep, and Maron, as well as the motion picture, Walk to Vegas which is set for release soon. Worlds apart from the womanizing Bob, Don has been very happily married to Aubrey Robinson since 1989 and continues to make his mark in the entertainment industry.

Ashton Kutcher (Michael Kelso)

Ashton Kutcher was perfectly cast as the dim-witted yet delicious-looking Michael Kelso, love interest of Jackie and best friend to Fez. It's hard to believe that this was Ashton's debut acting stint, he was just so believable in his role as the token pretty-boy in the series. Kutcher's acting resume is impressive, including entries such as Dude, Where's My Car, Just Married and My Boss's Daughter. In 2003 he went on to create, produce and host Punk'd on MTV which was a hit amongst prank-show fanatics of all ages.

As far as his love-life is concerned, Ashton has managed to score a lot more girls than Kelso could ever dream of. He was linked to a string of beautiful women including Lindsay Lohan, Nelly Furtado, Brittany Murphy, and Amy Smart. He wed Demi Moore in 2005, splitting up in 2011 before getting involved with former co-star Mila Kunis in 2012. The couple wed in 2015 and are proud parents of a gorgeous son and daughter. It seems like Kelso and Jackie are getting their happy ending after all (gush)!

Topher Grace (Eric Forman)

Topher Grace was born to portray the role of Eric Forman and played the perfect protagonist effortlessly: geeky, nice and just a bit awkward. Viewers fell in love with Eric's boy-next-door charm and dry sense of humor, making the world take note of the previously unknown young actor from New York. In 2007, a year after That 70's Show ended, Topher landed the role of Eddie Brock/Venom in Spiderman 3, Interstellar and Mississippi Requiem.

On the show, Topher's character Eric only had eyes for his neighbour Donna but in real life, he has been romantically linked to a number of women including high-profile celebs such as Anne Hathaway, Ivanka Trump, Emmy Rossum as well as his on-screen love Donna (Laura Prepon). He started dating actress Ashley Hinshaw in 2014 and the couple wed in 2016 near Santa Barbara. Topher has grown up to be quite a hunk, it's no wonder he managed to land so many pretty women!

Tanya Roberts (Midge Pinciotti)

Midge Pinciotti (Donna's mom and Bob's wife) sure had it going on and was the object of many of Eric and his friends' age-restricted fantasies. Tanya Roberts made her acting debut long before I was even born but it was for her role as the aloof best friend of Kitty that she will be best remembered as. In the 20 odd years since the show first aired Roberts has hardly aged a day and remains the same gorgeous mama that she was more than 2 decades ago.

In That 70's Show Tanya's character Midge and husband Bob eventually got divorced despite having a seemingly steamy relationship (which included doing it inside Eric's Vista Cruiser). In reality, Tanya was married to Barry Roberts from 1974 until his death late in 2006 - the couple sadly had no children.

Tommy Chong (Leo)

Before Tommy Chong was cast in the role of Leo on That 70's Show, he was very affectionately known as one half of Cheech and Chong of 1980's stoner movies such as Up In Smoke and Still Smokin'. Chong appeared in 65 episodes of the show, cast in a role which fit him like a glove - that of a hippie World War II veteran who would much rather play hard than work hard. Chong left the show periodically the 4th season, returning at the start of season 7 and remaining until the end.

In the 12 years since the show ended, the now 79-year old Chong has made appearances in George Lopez and Cubed and has voiced a number of animated characters such as Yax in Zootopia and Bottom Bag in Uncle Grandpa. Chong's health took a knock in 2012 when he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. After being in remission for almost 2 years he was once again diagnosed, this time colorectal. In true 'Leo' spirit, Tommy has been using substances like crazy in an attempt to fight his disease and make the treatment more endurable - what a trooper!

Lisa Robin Kelly (Laurie Forman)

Laurie Forman was pretty malevolent at times and got a kick out of tormenting her poor brother. Lisa Robin Kelly starred as the promiscuous older sister to Eric from season one until she left during season three, thanks to an altercation with the shows' producers about her substance problems. Lisa does return to resume her role during season 5 in which she marries Fez, just so that everyone's favorite foreigner can stay in the country. After another fallout, Lisa is replaced by actress Christina Moore during season 6.

After her dismissal from the show, Lisa continued on her downward spiral. She had lost all of her youthful sparkle and looked decades older than what she was. She was arrested for DUI by North Carolina police in 2010 and again in 2013. Approximately 2 months after the latter of the arrests, rundown and desperate, she checked into a rehab facility in California. Sadly, this did not turn out to be the turning point in Lisa's life that we were hoping for - she died in her sleep on August 15, 2013, with the cause of death being from the substances she took. Another bright flame dimmed by the darkness of such things.

Josh Meyers ( Randy Pearson)

Josh Meyers didn't possess a lengthy acting resume before joining the cast of the show as Donna's new love interest, Randy Pearson in 2006. He appeared in 47 episodes of MADtv between 2002 and 2004 and made an appearance in Life As We Know It in 2005. Randy had us all fooled for a while, pretending to be a gentle, polite, ladies' man. His true colors eventually surfaces and Donna dumps him towards the end of the final season.

Meyers appeared in 21 episodes of That 70's Show and have since had roles in a number of TV shows such as Workshop, The Mindy Project, The Awesomes and Red Oaks. Josh doesn't seem to be the same ladies' man he was on the show in real life and is currently single after being briefly linked to actress Missi Pyle.

Mo Gaffney (Joanne Stupak)

Mo Gaffney began her career as one half of an act with Kathy Najimy with whom she wrote 2 off-Broadway shows which were subsequently filmed for HBO and won a myriad of awards. She first appeared on the show during season 4 as Joanne who later became Bob's girlfriend after he divorced from Midge. She remains a regular cast member until she breaks up with poor unsuspecting Bob in season 5, resulting in Eric losing his job at the dog food factory where she hired him to put coupons in packets of food.

Since leaving the show, Mo has appeared in 19 episodes of Run of the House and had brief stints in a number of shows including Hart of Dixie, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Two Broke Girls and Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie. Very little is known about Mo's private life apart from the fact that she is a fierce activist and fervent supporter of women and people who love the same gender. Mo is a longtime activist and has written and spoken extensively on the rights of Women and the community. If the Powerpuff girls were real, Mo would, without a doubt, have been their leader!

Tim Reid (William Barnett)

Tim Reid's character in the show caused a fair share of drama in the show when William Barnett was revealed to be Hyde's biological father. William's race was, understandably so, a shock to everyone else, except Hyde who attributed his laid-back attitude and his afro to his dad's gene pool. If Tim looked familiar when joining the cast of That 70's Show, chances are good that you remember him as Ray Campbell in the popular TV series, Sister, Sister.

Tim has been a busy man since production on the show came to an end, adding a string of TV shows such as The Soul Man, Treme, and Greenleaf. He has been happily married to wife Daphne Reid (his second wife) since 1982 and was admitted to the board of directors of the American Civil War Center at Tredegar Iron Works in July 2011. The assiduous gentleman that he is, Tim went on to receive a VCU honorary doctorate for his many outstanding and distinguished contributions in May 2014.
